Whether you're improving texture in wall paints or enhancing performance in cement-based systems, Hehui HEC is your reliable solution for consistent quality and lasting performance.

Working Principle of HEC Powder

Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC) is a water-soluble cellulose ether that functions primarily as a thickener, stabilizer, and water-retaining agent. Its mechanism is based on the following principles:

  1. Hydration and Swelling

    • HEC molecules rapidly absorb water, forming a hydrated network that increases solution viscosity.

    • The degree of viscosity depends on the polymer’s molecular weight and hydroxyethyl substitution level.

  2. Film Formation

    • Upon drying, HEC forms a continuous, flexible film that improves surface adhesion, prevents cracking, and enhances durability in construction and coating applications.

  3. Rheology Control

    • HEC stabilizes suspensions and dispersions by increasing viscosity and imparting shear-thinning behavior, allowing easy application while preventing sagging or settling.

  4. Water Retention

    • In cementitious and mortar systems, HEC reduces water evaporation, maintaining workability and improving hydration for stronger final products.

  5. Compatibility and Synergy

    • HEC interacts with other polymers, fillers, or additives in formulations, enhancing performance without chemical reactions.
